This is my all time favourite gemstone. Colour-change Alexandrite. It's just the most wonderful stone. And what better stone to have for an engagement ring? Not the usual diamond, although it's cut and set in a very traditional way. But with the added genius of changing colour. Changing colour according to lighting or angle. It can look green in daylight, pink in candlelight, and a mixture of colours in other lights. I've photographed it in daylight and it's a pretty pink. When I pop it in front of an old lamp bulb it shows a deeper pink glow. Photographed under a late afternoon sky and it's more green. Under my work lamp it's really quite blue!
